We think that the UBC campus is a pretty special place and it looks like others agree! We're proud to say that our innovative approaches, excellence in design and commitment to sustinability and stewardship has been recognized at the local, national and international level!

Here are just a few of the incredible awards and accolades UBC has received in the fields of planning and design:

LEED Gold Certification:

[LEED is intended to provide building owners and operators a concise framework for identifying and implementing practical and measureable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.

REAP Certification:

UBC-specific green building rating system for mandatory application to all residential construction on campus since 2009.

BOMA Earth Award:

BOMA Canada's recognition of excellence in resource preservation and environmentally sound commercial building management.

Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) Award in Urban Design:

Recognizes individuals, organizations, firms and projects located in Canada that have contributed to teh quality of life in Canadian cities and their sustainability.

American Institute of Architects (AIA) Honour Award for Regional and Urban Design:

Recognizes distinguised achievements that involve the expanding rold of the architec in urban design, regional and city planning, and community development, and that contribute to the quality of these environments.

Wallpaper Magazine Best Lab Award:

Internationally recognizes the best of the year across a range of categories, including art, architecture, design and fashion

College Sustainability Report Card:

The only indepdendent sustainability evaluation of campus operations and endowment investments

  • UBC received an "A" in the Green Building category; the average grade amongst 300 public and private institutions was a C+

Green Campus Recognition:

Awarded by the National Wildlife Federation

  • UBC is Canada's first and only university to receive this recognition (2003, 2005, 2006)
