Chef Challenge 2020 | Virtual

The competition has ended. Who did you crown as this year's Chef Challenge Champion?

With 60% of the total votes, the winner of this year's Chef Challenge is UBC Vancouver's Chef Darren! Thank you to everyone that voted!

Cheer on chefs from the comforts of your home in this year’s virtual UBC Chef Challenge!

The cross-campus kitchen battle is on! For the first time, chefs from UBC Okanagan and UBC Vancouver will face-off in this highly anticipated showdown over comfort food.

The chefs have created a comfort food dish inspired by the land and seasonal ingredients from local farmer's markets. It's up to YOU to decide which chef and their creation deserves your vote to win people's choice — Chef Challenge Champion!

How to participate:

1. Watch the videos:

UBC Vancouver's Kale citrus-crusted salmon with farro, scarlet frill salad, dill yogurt drizzle:  Video  |  Recipe

UBC Okanagan's Red fife shortcakes with whipped goat cheese and strawberry mead sauce:  Video  |  Recipe

2. Evaluate the chef's creation based on the following criteria: use of local ingredients, affordability, creative use of pantry staples, ease of duplication by home cooks and presentation.

3. VOTE online from July 30-August 8, 2020. Voting is open to all and free to participate.

By voting, you will be entered into a draw for the chance to win one of two, $25 UBC Food Services gift cards, redeemable at either UBC Okanagan or Vancouver!

4. Cook along with the chefs in your own kitchen using the provided recipes. If you cook along, take a photo and tag us on social @utownubc and use #UBCchefchallenge, or attach your photo with your online vote for the chance to be featured!
