Lunar New Year fun on Main Mall!

If you've journeyed along Main Mall over the past few days, you may have noticed a little celebration taking place at Agricultural Road! Our fabulous Animation and Outreach Coordinators Iggy and Collyn are pleased to introduce the Pop-Up Cafe Series.

Did you know that tea is the most widely-consumed beverage in the world? Many different cultures have their own special versions of the drink, and this week's Intercultural Tea (offered in collaboration with the UBCIA) featured tea from all around the world, including China, Thailand, Jamaica, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.

Huge thanks to the student from the Department of Asian Studies, who helped ring in the Year of the Sheep by showing passersby how to tie beautiful Chinese knots. I was quite frankly terrible at it, but they very patiently stood by my side and showed me the ropes as I fumbled through the steps. After a little bit of struggle I had a lovely little knot, which I donated for an upcoming animation project—be sure to keep an eye out for this next week!

If you missed out on today's Intercultural Tea, don't worry! Iggy and Collyn will be back tomorrow, and they have lots more in store over the next few weeks

Hope to see you "pop by" one of our "pop-ups"!
