Summer at UTown@UBC!

Summer is the perfect time to explore UTown@UBC, and throughout the summer months there have been lots of great events around campus for residents; whether you're part of a family of five or flying solo at UBC, there's always something to keep you busy and active. Here are a few of the many summertime 2013 highlights:

UTown@UBC Summer Sports Festival (June 15, 2013):

We kicked off the summer in style by teaming up with UBC REC on the UTown@UBC Summer Sports Festival on June 15th. This community "sports day" was complete with mental and physical challenges (from bouncy dodgeball to blindfolded jenga), a BBQ and prizes. Can't wait until next year!

UBC Skatepark Opening (June 15, 2013):

Pro boarders and bikers shredded up the skatepark with some amazing demos. The Skatepark has quickly become a cornerstone of the community, and is a great place to see UBC students mingle with the residential community.

Grand Prix (July 9, 2013):

This annual Gran Fondo event brought a world-class cycling spectacle right here to the UBC Vancouver campus! Once again, UTown@UBC was proud to team up with the UNA as official co-sponsors of the Kids Race and judging by how fast some of the kids were, we may be seeing some of them tearing up the tracks in 10-15 years!

UTown@UBC Youth Fit (July 6-Aug 17,  2013):

Picking up from our highly successful spring session, the UTown@UBC Youth Fit program continued into the summer. This time, participants had the chance to try out some brand-new sports, including Dragonboating, fencing and beach volleyball (right here on campus, courtesy of the folks at Wesbrook Village).

Outdoor Movie Night (August 23):

What better way to celebrate the end of summer than by grabbing a lawn chair and some popcorn and heading over to Wesbrook Village for an outdoor showing of the 1993 hit Jurassic Park! Over 400 residents came out to this event, brought to you by the UNA, Wesbrook Village and UTown@UBC!
