Sunshine and songs on Main Mall!

With a repertoire that included a rocking samba (accompanied by some new UBC students playing the maracas), 1930's style swing, and my personal favourite the Game of Thrones theme song (awesome), the Fireside Quintet put on a great show at Music on the Mall yesterday afternoon!

Aside from being a great excuse to soak up the sun and eat frozen yogurt for lunch (Qoola is RIGHT there), Music on the Mall was also a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the incredible talent that exists on this campus—the Fireside Quintet is a Vancouver-based woodwinds group comprised of UBC School of Music students and alumni. If you enjoyed yesterday’s show, be sure to check out their website.

As summer winds down and we head into the busy back-to-school season, it was wonderful to see so many staff, faculty, students and campus residents (and lots of kids) grab a seat or a blanket and spend a relaxing hour eating lunch, listening to music and taking advantage of the great weather.
