Meet our new Student Engagement Team!

Highly involved in various campus events and organizations, from UBC REC to Imagine UBC to Sprouts, our new student staff members are ready to help 9,400 student residents from all across campus become more engaged and aware of everything that makes living, working and learning at UTown@UBC great!

Our Student Engagement Team members will be blogging on this page from time to time, so be sure to check back. In the meantime, get to know them a bit better, and be sure to stop by and say hi when you see them at campus events!

What are you studying?/What year are you in?
I majored in Human Geography at UBC, and also spend a term studying with Simon Fraser University’s Semester in Dialogue program. I finished my degree this past spring, and now I am working towards earning my Advanced Certificate in Sustainable Business Leadership at BCIT.

What’s your favourite thing about UBC?
UBC is brimming with incredible people who are doing amazing work.  It is also a place of fabulous fair trade coffee options! So one of my favourite pastimes is taking someone I admire out for coffee on campus and “picking their brain” for advice and inspiration.

What is your favourite hidden gem on campus?
My favourite hidden gem is Seedlings Café on the top floor of the Thea Koerner House. Specifically, I love the huge deck because I can enjoy an exquisite view of the ocean and mountains while I study and get caffeinated.

What are you studying? ARTS! (I'm switching into interdisciplinary studies)

What year are you in? I'm doing a happy 5th and final year.

What’s your favourite thing about UBC?
Two things! 1) I absolutely love the pep rally on Imagine Day! I spent the past couple years volunteering as a MUG leader and Squad leader, and the pep rally is the best imaginable start to the year. 2) During exams, UBC brings in puppies for de-stressing. A room full of adorable puppies warms my heart!

What’s your favourite hidden gem on campus?
My favorite spot to study is definitely on the grass in the Nitobe garden! Being surrounded by nature with the sun streaming down on you brings your studying to the next level.  Plus, entry is FREE for students!
