As more housing is built at UBC, the campus is evolving into a vibrant community! UBC is committed to creating an inclusive environment for students, faculty, staff and residents of UBC and the University Endowment Lands (UEL), and strongly believes that developing a lively, integrated and socially sustainabale community is essential for a shared future.
We recognize that the unique energy, ideas and perspectives that today’s youth can bring to a community. By providing opportunities for young people of all backgrounds and interests to achieve their full potential, we can build a strong, dynamic community for the future; that's why in 2001, Campus + Community Planning launched the Community Youth Initiative. The goal was to create a safe, child and youth friendly community by addressing the needs of young people who live at UBC.
We established the Community Youth Initiative in partnership with several community groups, including:
- University Hill Elementary
- University Hill Secondary
- RCMP
- UBC Campus Security
- UBC Alma Mater Society (AMS)
- UBC Housing and Conferences
- University Endowment Lands
